Exceeding Expectations Begins By Asking the Unexpected

Do you like to fish? Play darts? Does good curry interest you? Into wines? Looking for a bit of history?

Of course we want to know where and when you want to go, how many are in your group, what courses you want to play and what size bed you want to sleep in. But the goal here isn’t just to make sure you play the world’s greatest courses but that you also experience the good life around them.

Haversham & Baker Expedition Planners are the architects of your journey. They’ve experienced the good, bad, ugly and beautiful in all of the places in which Haversham & Baker specialize. They’re going to ask questions you’re not expecting to hear. In most cases, they’ll bring up matters you and your group probably haven’t even considered.

“After all, this is a golf trip, isn’t it? You’re going to arrive with your best friends at one of the most glorious places on the planet, put on your Ping blinders, head straight to the course and play golf. Right? If this is the extent of your expectations, please visit Google and enter keywords “Golf Travel.” You’ll find 62,300,000 others who can help you.”

Chris McConn
Director Expedition Planning

Chris has been with us for since 1999. He is a former PGA professional and a graduate of the professional golf management program at Mississippi State. His dad is a golf professional as are two of his uncles. In short, Chris understands both the game and all of the ‘games’ that revolve around the game. Bonding, camaraderie, value, seeking out special ‘off the beaten track’ opportunities that may appeal to one group but not to all – are among the thoughts beyond standard travel arrangements, Chris considers when custom crafting an H&B Expedition.

”What’s not to love about a job where, with every call, the client gets more and more excited and anxious about what awaits them. Especially, when what awaits is a time in their life that will be with them forever.”

Julie Muraca is a graduate of the Professional Golf Management program at Methodist University who joined H&B in 2005 after working at Pinehurst Resort. She grew up playing golf at Western Hills Country Club in Cincinnati where one of the golf professionals who tuned her game was none other than her present planning colleague, Chris McConn. Julie understands that members of the H&B Expeditionary Forces come to us looking for a travel experience that is a whole lot more than just a golf trip. She relishes the challenge of helping her clients find destinations perfect for their unique interests both on and off the fairway.

While I enjoy planning expeditions, my favorite part of my job is hearing from our travelers when they return home. Their reports are always good and often positively over the top. I don’t think I’ve experienced anything else in my professional career quite as rewarding.
